HAPPY@WORK and Enthusiastic Employees

As a senior manager are you enthusiastic about your work? You are so obviously enthusiastic you probably feel I am impertinent in even asking the question. Are your employees enthusiastic about their work? That's probably not such an easy question for you to answer.

According to surveys of 3.5 million employees from mostly larger companies around the world, conducted by Sirota Survey Intelligence, 76% of employees like the work they do. However, they dislike obstacles that interfere with their ability to do their jobs. Their major results have recently been summarised by Dr. David Sirota et al. in The enthusiastic Employee: How Companies Profit by Giving Workers What They Want. - www.enthusiasticemployee.com. Sirota found that 95% of employees begin a new job enthusiastically. After about 6 months there are significant declines in morale in 9 out of 10 companies.

'Management doesn't have to motivate employees to perform but should sustain - and prevent management from destroying - the motivation that employees naturally bring to their jobs.

According to Sirota, removing obstacles to performance would enormously improve the competitiveness of companies. "Performance can be improved by between 20% and 40% at most companies if these obstacles are removed".

Quality Associates has developed HAPPY@WORK® over a number of years. Using a Web-based questionnaire for managers at different levels in the company, we can measure the resilience of your whole company and get a measure of each of 15 factors that affect the enthusiasm of your employees within the whole company, within departments / divisions and / or by level of staff reporting.

Each manager completes the questionnaire in no more than 10 minutes. With little effort from staff, senior managers can be presented with the results almost immediately. If the company decides to undertake some changes in response to the results, we can undertake HAPPY@WORK® again to determine if the changes have produced the desired effects.

Enthusiastic Employees = Increased Productivity + Increased Innovation + Increased Resilience
